Daryl Worley charged with DUI, gun-related offense

The Philadelphia Eagles have chose to release cornerback Daryl Worley shortly after his arrest near the team's facility on Sunday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, Worley, 23, was arrested just outside the team's practice facility in South Philadelphia.

Police received a 911 call at about 6 a.m. Sunday about a vehicle blocking the Philadelphia highway and when they arrived they found the 23-year-old Worley passed out in the auto.

After he was awakened around 6 a.m., police say, Worley became combative and fought with officers. A gun was also recovered on the scene.

Later Sunday, Howard Eskin of Philadelphia's WIP radio, reported the Eagles released Worley.

Those of you who anxious about whether or not the trade that brought Daryl Worley to the Philadelphia Eagles was a wise will never get an answer.

He was expected to compete for a roster spot as a backup corner back or safety.

Worley, a third-round pick in 2016, started 25 games in the past two seasons for the Panthers. He pled no contest to that charge and served a six-month suspended sentence.
