Cohen Search Was Separate From Mueller's Probe, Prosecutors Say

Trump's tweet on the matter comes nearly a week after Cohen was raided, with the president having previously made it clear he was deeply unhappy about the raid.

Though President Trump declared after last week's raids that "attorney-client privilege is dead", there's actually a higher bar for obtaining a search warrant that might scoop up privileged materials. I have many (too many!) lawyers and they are probably wondering when their offices, and even homes, are going to be raided with everything, including their phones and computers, taken.

While Trump has dismissed the Cohen raid as part of a "witch hunt" perpetrated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, court filings last week revealed that USA attorneys in Manhattan have been investigating him for months, and a grand jury has been hearing evidence in the case.

Speaking Sunday on WHMI's Viewpoint, Bishop said while the President has the Constitutional authority to have Mueller dismissed, it isn't something he would advise be done, although that doesn't mean he approves of the way the investigation is being handled.

The comments from 8th District Republican Congressman Mike Bishop come as former FBI Director James Comey makes the media rounds promoting his new book about his tenure at the agency and subsequent firing by President Donald Trump past year, prompting speculation about the future of Mueller's investigation. It's an attack on our country, in a true sense.

Collins said on ABC's "This Week" that she doubts Trump would sign such a bill into law and, like other moderate Republicans, has questions about its constitutionality, as it would infringe on the president's power to make personnel decisions.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has said that she was not aware of any plans to fire or remove Special Counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
