In the middle of severe uproar in the country, over the Unnao rape and the Kathua rape and murder case in the country, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj is engulfed in fresh controversy for inaugurating a nightclub in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

Located in Aliganj area, the club is called "Let's Meet". This time, BJP's MP from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj is being criticised for inaugurating what is reportedly claimed to be a "nightclub".

As per the reports, he inaugurated the club on Sunday evening i.e. 15 April.

"I was told by former UP state president Rajjan Singh that it was a restaurant owned by his son-in-law". Speaking to TOI on the same, he said that he has also sought the license of the club since he wasn't just and MP but a religious ascetic who is supposed to keep away from such things.

The BJP leader sparked major outrage in Uttar Pradesh after he inaugurated a night club in state capital Lucknow.

In the past, Maharaj had said that couples displaying their affection in public should be put behind bars. "Be it a motorcycle, vehicle or park, couples can be seen behaving in a vulgar fashion".

Last year, the BJP lawmaker had defended Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after he was convicted for raping his female followers at a Panchkula court on August 25.

"One person has complained of rape against Ram Rahim. I agreed", said Sakshi Maharaj who "realised" it later that it was actually a bar and a nightclub. "Who do you think is right?"
