Android P May Have iPhone X Style Gesture Controls

In a wholly unrelated post about network security improvements in P from the Android Developers Blog, a screenshot today reveals a new navigation bar layout that is completely different from what is now on Android 8.1 Oreo. In other words, an integral part of the Android P user experience may very well be a new navigation gesture originally introduced on the iPhone X.

However, rather than using this gesture to reach the home screen, Android P is expected to instead use it in place of Android's multi-tasking button, according to 9to5Google. Later on, the company has removed the attached Screenshot from their blog page.

At first glance, there's nothing fundamentally different about the design or interface - but look below and there seems to be a navigation bar that has never appeared on Android before. The availability of the Pill shaped button doesn't reveal much about the functions hidden inside it. This gesture reveals the multitasking UI on the coming Android P operating system.

Several smartphone manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus already enabled similar implementations of gesture navigation even on the framework of Android Oreo. Otherwise, the back button wouldn't be there, just the navigation bar.

Following the completion of the sale, the director now owns 437,508 shares of the company's stock, valued at $5,613,227.64. The software maker reported $0.14 earnings per share for the quarter, topping the consensus estimate of $0.05 by $0.09.

Apparently, the notch isn't the only thing Android P will port from the iPhone X in its next major update. Well, there is nothing confirmed by the Google as of this moment about the navigation bar and what functionality it could carry for the users. Still, we need to wait for a specific period of time to see how the tech giant will add a new feature on its upcoming Android system that will eventually highlight upcoming of tech era or the world of Android.

Our Stephen Hall detailed a system identical to today's leak in Alphabet Scoop 001 (at the 33:40 and 36:28 marks) shortly after the release of the first developer preview.

However, 9to5Google had previously heard whispers from a reliable source that Google was testing an upward swipe on an iPhone X-style strip to trigger multitasking. This new iPhone X like navigation bar offers an easier environment to all the developers to make the most of bezel-less display.
