Andhra special status: Chandrababu Naidu to fast on his birthday, April 20

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday announced that he will sit on a one-day hunger strike against the Centre's non-cooperation of the state. At the event, Dattatreya said it was historic that a prime minister, annoyed with the way the entire session of Parliament got disrupted, sat on a day-long fast.

It is learnt that Naidu will observe fast from morning to evening at the Bible Mission Ground at Acharya Nagarjuna University, where the TDP is going to hold "Dalita Tejam Telugu Desam" on April 20.

"Is it not the Central government which is responsible for Parliament not functioning smoothly", asked Naidu.

Analysts See $1.01 EPS for J&J Snack Foods Corp. (JJSF)
Zacks Investment Research lowered J & J Snack Foods from a "buy" rating to a "hold" rating in a research report on Wednesday. The company reported $0.78 earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter, missing the consensus estimate of $0.80 by ($0.02).

The Andhra Pradesh politicians have been protesting demanding Special Category Status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh, which was promised by the Centre during the bifurcation of the state in 2014. The Chief Minister said that a huge public meeting will be organised in Tirupati on April 30 with the theme "Let us save the state from betrayal and conspiracies". While the Congress, TDP and TRS are family parties, BJP is the only party that has the true spirit of democracy, he said. Addressing the gathering, Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K Laxman said some political parties were trying to destabilise the NDA government by creating disturbances like communal clashes and violence in the country.

He recalled that TDP played a key role in government formation at the Centre in the past. Naidu laid the foundation-stone for the construction of a 125-feet tall statue of Ambedkar at a cost of Rs.100 crores at "Sruthi Vanam' Park in Amaravati, which would be Andhra Pradesh's capital from 2026". He vowed to complete the project in 18 months.
