Trump warns of 'bedlam' without border wall

"Movements like this, and other issues including the gender wage gap and protecting women's access to health care, remind us that there is still so much to be done in the fight for equality".

Among Trump's supporters, Kira Innis, 31, said she was backing Trump "because he doesn't give a good gosh darn about somebody's color, he cares about putting more green in their pocket". I've seen the damage border wall causes in my backyard and these prototypes will make a bad problem even worse.

He defended his call for a wall amid nearby protests on both sides of the border - and a handful of pro-Trump demonstrators on the USA side.

President Donald Trump visited California on Tuesday to view prototypes for a proposed U.S.

Demonstrators draped themselves in U.S. flags and waved placards emblazoned with slogans such as "Humpty Trumpty will fall off his wall", "Resist unstable idiot", and "No hate in the Golden State".

Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles, led a Monday afternoon rally in Beverly Hills in advance of Trump's visit, denouncing the president's plans for a border wall and his immigration stances.

Perhaps Trump meant Californians, and not their state government, want the wall?

The president was also critical of California governor Jerry Brown, saying he was doing a "terrible" job, while claiming to have a "great relationship" with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who he praised as a strong negotiator.

He hailed the prototypes and said he prefers versions that allow law enforcement to see through them into Mexico so they can monitor activity on the other side.

Becerra has repeatedly said California's sanctuary laws don't prevent federal officials from enforcing immigration rules, but simply carve out how state and local officials should conduct themselves parallel to that enforcement - within the state's purview as delineated by the 10th Amendment.

"He said: "[The President] actually tweeted on the plane that this wall would pay for itself by cutting crime - well, he's not got Congress or Mexico yet to pay for it so it might be handy if it pays for itself. "He was going to use Mexico and the Mexican people, Mexican migrants in the a scapegoat, and it was a very successful scapegoat that helped him become the president of the United States". Many of them were criminals with criminal histories and are very risky people. "The place is totally out of control", Trump criticized.

Trump's visit brought him to the home turf of the resistance movement against his presidency.

Trump asked which of the 30ft walls would be the most hard to climb, adding that the wall would most likely have to be transparent, even though he would rather it be concrete. "A 1,900-mile waste of taxpayer money that - news flash - is impossible to complete".

Not many details were released in advance of Trump's visit to Los Angeles, other than a schedule. "And no, I think the governor's doing a bad job running the state of California".

The political action committee for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is considering a run for president, ran ads coinciding with Trump's arrival.
