Conspiracy theory videos flooding the YouTube Kids app

On the video he claims that the Earth is controlled by hybrid beings that are part reptile, part human. But it seems that YouTube Kids has a similar problem, with children being exposed to conspiracy theory videos from the likes of reptilian-obsessed, Illuminati-loving conspiracist David Icke.

Business Insider said YouTube was quick to delete inappropriate videos once notified, but others remained. This content is screened using human trained systems.

"Sometimes we miss the mark", YouTube told Business Insider in a statement. When we do, we take immediate action to block the videos or, as necessary, channels from appearing in the app.

While YouTube has continued to keep questionable content off its platform, child-oriented apps tend to face a much higher level of scrutiny because children are not supposed to see false material, contextual help or otherwise any questionable material. For example, after the Valentine's Day school shooting in Parkland, Florida, survivors of the attack who publicly went after the NRA and the Trump administration were wrongly branded "crisis actors" who show up at such events. So why is YouTube Kids seemingly treated so laxly?

YouTube has been reluctant to tinker with is recommendation algorithm because its "main objective is to keep you consuming YouTube videos for as long as possible" Wired noted in a story published this week that suggested insane theories are quite sticky.

Last year YouTube came under fire for recommending videos containing extreme violence and sexual content to kids.

Wojcicki said during her festival appearance that "People can still watch the videos, but then they have access to additional information".
