Patriots bring back Burkhead

According to the Boston Globe, the team agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Burkhead, set to be an unrestricted free agent.

The Patriots are bringing back Rex Burkhead. In 10 games played, he rushed for 264 yards with five touchdowns along with hauling in 30 catches on 36 targets for 254 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Burkhead, who joined the Patriots from the Cincinnati Bengals last spring, battled multiple injuries during his first season in New England but was productive when healthy.

Callon Petroleum (CPE) Earns Media Sentiment Score of 0.15
A year ago the company's sales were $81360 while its sales growth yearly estimates for the current quarter are 44.6%. The stock of Callon Petroleum Company (NYSE: CPE ) has "Buy" rating given on Friday, September 1 by Stifel Nicolaus.

The 27-year-old could in line for an increased role next season with Lewis out of the mix. He returned in playoffs. He missed New England's divisional round win over the Tennessee Titans and was used sparingly in the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars before rushing for 18 yards on three carries and taking a Brady screen pass for 46 yards in Super Bowl LII against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Burkhead, who entered the National Football League as a sixth-round draft choice of the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013 out of Nebraska, had signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots on March 14, 2017.

Re-signing Burkhead removed the need for the Patriots to sign a running back in free agency, as they also have White, Gillislee and Brandon Bolden under contract. It still wouldn't be a surprise to see the Pats add more depth, but at this point, it might make more sense to do that in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft.
