Joseph high schools lifted after social media threat determined to be unrelated

A Jersey Shore high school spent part of Wednesday morning on lockdown as police investigated a weapons threat on the campus.

A school in California was put on lockdown Wednesday after a shooting threat.

"We searched the school floor-by-floor, looking for anything suspicious", he said.

School officials said the graffiti indicated a school shooting would happen.

After school activities were canceled, and students were dismissed. However, authorities say those rumors were not true, and there were no guns found on campus.

San Leandro Unified School District Superintendent Mike McLaughlin says the school will be closed Thursday as a precaution, "unless we notify you otherwise".

A planned walkout at Righetti High, held in conjunction with schools across the nation to protest gun violence, was postponed until lunchtime.

The Sheriff's Office says the threat was unsubstantiated, but the school was on lockdown about 90 minutes as the investigation progressed.
