2 shot at Birmingham hospital, suspect down

Police respond to a report of an active shooter at UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham Ala., on March 14, 2018.

Police confirm two people were shot Wednesday evening on the second floor of UAB Highlands Hospital in Birmingham before the shooter turned the gun on himself.

The suspect was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Williston said.

The male victim is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the chest.

Many of those teachers have already gotten the blessing to do so from administrators. "We have compromised our way into a crisis". Muskogee School Superintendent Mike Garde said he heard from the Oklahoma Department of Education.

UAB students were asked to shelter in place but were given the all-clear by UAB around 7:40 p.m.
