Top temperatures in some areas at the weekend will be at 1 to 2 degrees in the north and east of the country, although it will be milder in west and south west coasts with temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees. Wind speeds are forecast to gust up to 90 to 100 km/h in places across Leinster.

The Status Yellow Rainfall Warning applies to Laois, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are set to be wet with frost in places but things will take a turn for the worst over the weekend.

In their latest update they wanred that "snow showers will become more frequent along east and southeast coasts later Saturday".
