"American Idol" Returned to Television and Viewers Were NOT Happy About It

Welcome to American Idol!

"With this experience being my last experience with American Idol, it was huge for me". It will be interesting to see if American Idol can regain the stature it once had in its early years. The 10 p.m. premiere lost 43 percent of its "Idol" lead-in, but in drawing 6.1 million viewers and a 1.3 in the 18-to-49 demo, "Deception" wiped the floor with NBC's returning sci-fi effort "Timeless" (0.9) and CBS's veteran Beltway potboiler "Madam Secretary" (0.8). Now, on its new home ABC, the popular singing competition premiered on Sunday, March 11, in search for the next Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson. Quirky. Singer-songwriter. "21st Century Machine" original song. Wow. But Alyssa proved what I've said countless times - it doesn't matter how old you are because talent is talent. She is also the first to receive a golden ticket to Hollywood.

Next up is a man who escaped from the Congo with his family when he was only 10 years old. Let's wait and see! We'll be back tomorrow night with more auditions. That can definitely be a good thing - and something that can help him going forward, though he now needs to make sure that the backstory isn't the overwhelming reason we remember him. The judges seem uncertain. He and Katy Perry had a moment after he said "wig", leaving Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie confused.

Katy beckons the boy over to the panel before letting him plant a wet one on her cheek. She by far, had the best voice of the night. She even gets them out of their seats and dancing themselves, so it's no surprise when they give her three "yes" votes!

In past seasons, judges like Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban related how they never saw the preview profiles of contestants that viewers see, and often, only learned the back stories and struggles of the hopefuls through the weeks of the honing process. She just did a bunch of runs and screaming.

Too much time, some complained. The woman embarrasses herself all the way out the door. She performed "Rainbow Connection" and impressed the judges. She sings "Young, Dumb, and Broke", as well and it sounds great as a country vibe. Lionel Richie approved her as fit for Hollywood because "you're strong", he asserted. But that didn't stop 7-year-old Dyxie Spring. "Who's Loving You" by the Jackson 5.

Gov. Rauner Vetoes Piece of Gun Control Legislation
Jeanne Ives (R), who voted against the firearms restrictions in the legislature. He wants to win his primary and neglect his primary responsibilities.

When the series initially went off the air in 2016, I published an op-ed in which I discussed what American Idol has meant to me over the years. I like Lionel as a judge so far.

Benjamin Glaze, 19, Oklahoma.

That's when Perry made a decision to swoop in and give him a good luck kiss.

Who do you think had the best audition of the night? The talent tide surged in with Noah Davis, an Arkansas nursing student who dreamed of buying an alpaca once he became the "American Idol". He took control of the piano with "Stay" by Rhianna. Luke Bryan dubbed Zach as "Harry Potter", and Harry Potter never got Katy Perry swooning. Such a nice kid. Her voice is fantastic. Katy tells her she's not a pop star. She gets a bunch of noes and rightfully so.

Sardor Milano, 26, Orlando, FL. What competition did he win? But his ear-piercing high notes leave the judges speechless - in a bad way. I'm confused, but I like his so I look forward to seeing him in Hollywood. Wait, what?! His voice completely changed to a lower register. He nailed not just the song but earned a dance with Katy Perry. I like this kid. "At the end I was exhausted, I was really emotional, I was kind of angry". He does not get the golden ticket - at first.
