YouTube TV pricing goes up by $5/month starting tomorrow

YouTube announced a month back that it would be adding more content to its service but that it would also be increasing the service fee by five dollars.

YouTube's cable-like subscription service is getting a price bump, but there's still time to save a little money if you were thinking about signing up for the service. If you subscribe today (or already have), then you'll be grandfathered in at the original rate. The justification for that is that they are adding the whole roster of Turner Broadcasting channels as well as nationally broadcasted NBA games, NBA TV, and MLB TV.

Probably YouTube TV's closest competitor is Sling TV but the difference is that the latter has several tiers and you can choose a sort of "a la carte" on what channels and bundles that you want to include. You now have access to over 50 networks (including ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox) along with new additions TNT, Adult Swim, TBS, CNN, Cartoon Network, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies.

Desmond bought a ticket for the balcony, where the tax on the seats was one-cent cheaper, but sat in the floor area anyway. Although Queen Elizabeth II appears on a lot of Canadian currency, Desmond will be the first Canadian-born woman to do so.

YouTube TV sent out emails saying that starting March 13 new subscribers to YouTube TV will be paying $40 a month for the service. Both Hulu's Live TV option and Sony's PlayStation Vue are priced at $40 per month.

YouTube TV is completely separate from Google's free online video site, with which it shares a name.
