Xiaomi rolls out MIUI 9 stable ROM for all compatible devices

The update will be available for Redmi Note 4, Mi Max 2, Mi MIX 2, Mi 5, Redmi 4, Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi 4, Mi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 1S, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Mi 4i, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi 4A, Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime. "MIUI 9 update will be pushed to the users through OTA successively in different batches", writes Xiaomi in a blog post.

Now, Xiaomi has revealed the complete list of devices getting the update in India. Alternatively, you can manually verify for the presence of the update by tapping Software Settings from within your device. However, it is advisable to capture a backup of all your data before proceeding to download the update.

For India, Xiaomi engineers at Bengaluru R&D have created custom-made features in MIUI 9 Global ROM such as Hindu festival cards, Panchang calendar, stickers and many more. The developer version is updated every week with new features, bug fixes, and improvements but will have minor bugs. The aim is to provide customers with a stable update instead of an update with bugs. "That's why we're even updating the phones that were launched nearly 4 years ago - Mi 3 and Redmi 1S", reads Jain's tweet. Today, Xiaomi President Lin Bin has officially confirmed that the Redmi Note 5 will come with support for full screen gestures out-of-the-box.

Xiaomi has finally completed the MIUI 9 Global ROM release program for all the eligible Mi and Redmi series phones. The webpage also has a "Notify Me" tab which allows a user to sign up and stay updated with the device announcements. Recently Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro were launched in India and the smartphone was priced at an affordable range for the masses. It also comes with a separate Mi Drop cloud storage app, Do Not Disturb mode, App vault to secure all most-used applications in one folder, split screen (compatible with select applications only), new widget options, Home screen editing options and more.
