Essential PH-1 Receives Android 8.1 Oreo Stable Update

Essential PH-1 Receives Android 8.1 Oreo Stable Update

Essential has been testing the Android Oreo 8.1 update with its beta testers since January, and it's today rolling out the update to all Essential Phone owners.

At the end of January, Essential announced that it would be skipping a full release of Android 8.0 Oreo, instead going straight to 8.1.

This update has been a long time coming, as Essential skipped over Android 8.0 Oreo.

Android Oreo has seen minimal expansion since its debut previous year, and the newer Android 8.1 has made an even smaller dent in the market.

Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov found dead in his home in London
In 2017, during a trial in absentia in Russia, Glushkov was sentenced to eight years in prison for stealing $123m from Aeroflot . The 68-year-old was a close associate of the late tycoon Boris Berezovsky , who died at his ex-wife's Berkshire home in 2013.

Screenshots provided by some users who have received the OTA shows the update is 1015.1 MB in size.

Its interesting to see that it also brings March security patch and a fix for the scrolling jitter users have complained about.

Do you own an Essential PH-1? For him, the update comes in at around 276MB, though that'll vary depending on whether you're on the beta track or not.
