Ducks, Beavers both make NCAA women's tourney

Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, right, keeps the ball from Maryland's Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, left, during the second half of a regional semifinal game in the NCAA women's college basketball tournament, Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Bridgeport, Conn. The Ducks will take on 15th-seeded Seattle at 2 p.m. PT Friday in the first round, and with a win would face either No. 7 Green Bay or No. 10 Minnesota on Sunday in Eugene. They won the WAC title over the weekend.

Regular season and conference champion OR earned the No. 2 seed in the Spokane Region, its best in program history, which means it will host a subregional.

Oregon State, meanwhile, is a No. 6 seed and will open play in Knoxville, Tennessee, against 11th-seeded Western Kentucky on Friday (9 a.m. PDT, ESPN2).

The Ducks enter the NCAA tournament with a 30-4 overall record, including a current nine-game winning streak.

If Oregon wins, it will host the victor of No. 7 seed Wisconsin-Green Bay and No. 10 seed Minnesota on Sunday.

The team had taken part in a basketball tournament at the North Dakota School of Science in Whapeton, North Dakota. It swerved back onto the road and then returned to the ditch, where it came to rest, the report said.

OR is playing in the Spokane Regional, and thus could stay in the Pacific Northwest by winning twice this weekend.

Last season, the Ducks set a program record by reaching the NCAA Elite Eight.

OSU is led by senior Marie Gulich, who averages 17.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and almost three blocks per game.

"We want it to be a showcase for the country", Graves said. Instead of getting in, though, it was passed over just like the USC men's team.

Should Oregon State advance, it will play on Sunday against the victor of No. 3 seed Tennessee and No. 14 seed Liberty.
