Beauty and the Beast in Concert Coming to the Hollywood Bowl

Today, Disney announced Zooey Deschanel will take on the lead role of the book-loving heroine, Belle, in the upcoming live rendition of the 1991 animated film, Beauty and the Beast. And while the animated classic has already gone to Broadway, Disney's taking the musical to the Hollywood Bowl in May.

Deschanel said in the announcement that Beauty and the Beast was one of her favorite movies growing up, and performing in the concert "is a dream come true". Zooey Deschanel, Kelsey Grammer, Rebel Wilson, Taye Diggs and Jane Krakowski headline an all star cast singing songs from the film with a full orchestra as the movie plays on a giant screen behind them.

"I love this film, I love Alan Menken, and I loved Jerry Orbach - the title song, as sung by Angela Lansbury, makes me cry to this day", Grammer said in a statement about joining the concert experience. "Until then I will be mentally preparing for the role in France by eating croissants".

Evans will be performing "Evermore", an original song that was created for Disney's 2017 live action adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast".

Richard Kraft, who previously helmed live productions of The Little Mermaid and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will direct the show. Naturally, he said, "We want our audience to be our guests". He says "walking in the footsteps of such a brilliant [film] cast is an honor".

"The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl was an wonderful and unforgettable event". Tickets for the two-night event are scheduled to go on sale Friday via Ticketmaster, with prices expected to run between $42.50-$199.50.

Following the film's success, this spring the Hollywood Bowl will be putting on a live-action concert for two nights that will pay tribute to the film's music. If you buy something featured, we may earn an affiliate commission which helps support our work.
