Michael Porter Jr. says he's ready for Thursday's game

It looks like Michael Porter Jr. might suit up again for Missouri after all.

Ranked as the No. 2 recruit in the 2017 class by 247Sports, Porter played just two minutes in Missouri's season opener against Iowa State. Reports began to surface a few weeks ago that he was closer to a return to the floor and the SEC Tournament was the goal.

"I think he will play tomorrow", Martin said.

Missouri is expecting star freshman Michael Porter play Thursday when the Tigers will play their first game of the SEC Tournament against the victor of Wednesday's Georgia-Vanderbilt contest.

Head coach Cuonzo Martin admitted that Porter is "probably not 100 percent" but that he is healthy and in good enough condition that the team doesn't believe that playing will cause any further damage to his back.

Porter averaged 36.2 points and 13.6 rebounds per game as a senior in high school in Washington, and he was a McDonald's All-American after signing with Missouri.

After finishing the regular season with a 20-11 record, Missouri is now projected as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA tournament by ESPN's Joe Lunardi.

The No. 2 overall player in the 2017 recruiting class, Porter is considered to be a lock for the National Basketball Association lottery this year.

On Thursday, Mizzou will either play Georgia or Vanderbilt, depending on the result of the first-round game.
