Whirlpool is recalling more than 40,000 of its KitchenAid electric over potential burn hazards.

Whirlpool Corporation is recalling KitchenAid electric kettles after reports the handle can loosen and separate, causing hot liquids to spill. They are sold in several colours. There have been 19 reported cases of this occurring in Canada since January 23, and one known case resulting in burns.

In the US, another 40,200 kettles are being recalled after three reports of minor burn injuries.

Today's teens have real courage lobbying for gun control
He was expected to hold a listening session Wednesday with high school students and teachers affected by the mass shooting. Rick Scott signed into law that banned cities and counties from regulating gun and ammunition sales.

The kettles were sold online and in retailers including Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Health Canada said anyone who owns one of the affected kettles should stop using it immediately and contact Whirlpool at 1-800-874-0608 for a free replacement.

A Whirlpool-made fridge freezer was also found to be the source of a fire in a London tower block a year ago which left 71 people dead.
