Jets promote Bates to OC/QBs, hire Dennison

Jets promote Bates to OC/QBs, hire Dennison

He held the post for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, but he was sacked by coach Pete Carroll after only one season.

The Jets could also be interested in Washington's Kirk Cousins if he becomes available with the Redskins trading for Kansas City's Alex Smith.

The Jets will have not only a new offensive coordinator in 2018, but also a new offensive line coach.

He has also worked as an assistant under Mike Shanahan in Denver and Jon Gruden in Tampa Bay during his coaching career. He only lasted a year in his original NY stint, but he rejoined the team last year and oversaw a career year by 38-year-old quarterback Josh McCown. Bates will continue to coach the quarterbacks.

The former college quarterback at Tennessee and Rice is the son of former college and National Football League defensive coordinator Jim Bates.

British Steel pensions targeted by 'vulture' advisers
Those who had not reached pension age had a third option of switching to a defined contribution scheme, known as a DB transfer. The committee noted that an outline plan to save Tata Steel UK, the "sponsor" of the BSPS , had been in place since May 2017.

After a year out of football, Bates was hired by Chicago to be the Bears' quarterbacks coach, a stint that again lasted just one season when coach Lovie Smith was sacked. The Bills finished sixth in rushing last season, averaging 126.1 yards per game.

Dennison, 59, held that title across two stints with the Broncos, helping the team to a victory in Super Bowl 50. He was the Ravens' QBs coach in 2014 as Joe Flacco set a then-career high with 3,986 passing yards in addition to 27 touchdowns.

Dennison had a 15-year run with the Broncos from 1995-2009, filling several roles along the way. He went to the Jets the following season as Herman Edwards' quarterbacks coach.

In New York, Dennison will be reunited with Bates. He's a prospective free agent.

The Jets also announced the hiring of Steve Jackson as the assistant defensive backs coach replacing Daylon McCutcheon, who left the organization to spend more time with his family. He played in 118 regular-season games and eight more playoff games (28 total starts), compiling 14 interceptions and 9.0 sacks, including one pick against the Jets in the 1993 season finale and one sack against the Green & White in the '98 meeting at Vanderbilt. A former Oiler and Titan, he spent the last two seasons holding the same job with Tennessee.
