Trump's State of the Union Message: It's (Still) the Economy, Stupid

He said Trump, in his speech Tuesday night, will spell out his proposal for major improvements to roads, bridges, airports and waterways.

The president said he wants to use the address to press Democrats to come to an agreement with Republicans and his White House on an immigration bill that, among other things, would fund a Southern border wall and legalize the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program that protects from deportation around 690,000 individuals brought illegally to the children.

First lady Melania Trump, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight following those allegations, will attend Tuesday's address, according to the White House.

At this point, all we can hope for is a presidential message that lasts longer than a quart of milk.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and other Democratic lawmakers invited them to put a face on an immigration debate that is dominating Congress's attention.

Though Democrats are eager to reach a resolution for the young immigrants, the party is hardly in the mood to compromise with Trump ahead of the midterm elections. "He's a master negotiator. Cover a lot of territory, including our great success with the markets and with the tax cut". Aides said Trump did a practice run in the White House Map Room on Monday afternoon.

Were Analysts Bearish Diageo plc (LON:DGE) This Week?
After $-0.14 actual EPS reported by ASOS Plc for the previous quarter, Wall Street now forecasts -21.43% EPS growth. Clarkston Capital Partners Llc holds 5.06% of its portfolio in Brown & Brown, Inc. for 2.55 million shares.

To wit, in the first 12 months of this presidency, federal courts axed multiple versions of Trump's travel, aka Muslim, ban, the White House has been engulfed in a cascade of Russian Federation scandal turmoil, Obamacare repeal tanked (repeatedly and spectacularly), immigration deals stalled, the government shut down, there's been a sloppily handled nuclear standoff with North Korea, equivocation over the murder of a protester by a neo-Nazi, the president clashed with the family of a fallen soldier, he accused a top Democrat of facilitating a terror attack in NY, called a nearby island (and various African and foreign countries) a "shithole", said Haitian immigrants all have AIDS, flirted with firing a special counsel, ended up firing his FBI director, endured loud criticism for mixing his private business dealings with his governing responsibilities, and lost a humiliating Senate election in Alabama after backing a candidate credibly accused of molesting teenage girls. "And I think it will turn out to be very much to their detriment". "It's about showing solidarity with a movement- from hotels to farm fields, to Congress, we're standing with workers to end sexual harassment in all workplaces". "If we do that for the next year, we'll be just fine".

At least eight Democratic lawmakers have announced they are boycotting the president's address: Reps.

The Trump guests include a welder from OH who will benefit from the president's tax cuts; a firefighter who battled a monster blaze in California; the parents of children killed by MS-13 gang members; and a police officer who adopted an opioid-addicted baby in New Mexico.

Officer Ryan Holets, of the Albuquerque Police Department, who, according to the White House, was twice shot at during his time as an officer.

Sanders declined to provide details Monday about what Trump planned to say.
