Rockets' Ariza, Green suspended 2 games for locker-room incident

Less than 48 hours after four Houston Rockets players were accused of trying to force their way into the Los Angeles Clippers' locker room following a heated 113-102 loss, the National Basketball Association suspended two players following an investigation into the matter.

Houston's Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green have each been suspended two games for their role in Monday night's freakish locker room incident at Staples Center, the league announced on Wednesday.

ESPN previously reported that Ariza was the instigator of the fracas, with Paul and Harden trying to calm him.

The suspensions were announced by the league and follow its investigation that determined Ariza and Green entered the Clippers locker room immediately after the game and engaged in a hostile, verbal altercation with several Clippers players.

The league will speak to players from both sides to assess what exactly happened in the aftermath of the Clippers 113-102 win at the Staples Center.

With the reported ruling, Ariza and Green will miss Houston's games against Minnesota Thursday night and Golden State on Saturday.

Ariza's started all 40 games in which he's played this season, averaging 12.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in just over 36 minutes of action per contest.

"We were where we were supposed to be", Griffin said. "That's it. You should ask them".

The Rockets lost James Harden to a hamstring strain on New Year's Eve, but it appears the All-Star guard will return for Friday's (AEDT) matchup against the Timberwolves, ESPN reports .
