Oppo A83 launched in India: Price, specs and more

The new handset - which features Face Unlock tech - comes with a price tag of Rs. 13,990, a price Gadgets 360 had exclusively reported earlier this week. Oppo A83 smartphone boasts of artificial intelligence-based beauty recognition feature and full screen bezel-less display.

The Oppo A83 is fitted with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display that delivers a Full HD+ resolution of 1,440×720 pixels. Commenting on the launch, Will Yang, Brand Director, OPPO India said, "with the A83 we wish to bring an affordable selfie camera with advance features such as the HD + Full Screen Display and AI Beauty Technology". The smartphone is running ColorOS 3.2 which is based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Under the hood, the smartphone has an octa-core processor, which is a MediaTek MT6763T SoC clocked at 2.5GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM. This phone is packed with 3180mAh battery.

Oppo A83 is the new generation selfie expert. It has 32GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB through a MicroSD card. An update to Android 8.0 Oreo is likely to be distributed to the device by mid-2018 but isn't expected to come with support for Google's Project Treble.

Indian consumers are always looking for new budget-friendly smartphones and this new Oppo A83 smartphone is also going to create new benchmarks for upcoming smartphones in Indian market.

The smartphone offers standard connectivity features such as 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, GPS, GLONASS and dual-SIM support. Up front, there is an 8MP camera for shooting selfies and video calls. The front camera is also equipped with facial recognition feature to unlock the device.

Apart from this, the device comes with nearly all types of connectivity options such as 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 /b/g/n, GPS, Micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.2. The device will be available in two colour options - Black and Gold. The smartphone also has a rear-facing fingerprint sensor and comes with a pre-installed O-Share file-sharing app that is claimed to transmit six to seven photos in just a second. While sensors onboard include Ambient light, distance and Gravity sensors. However, it is the first phone in this price-range to feature Face Unlock.
