Seahawks' Jeremy Lane arrested on DUI charge

Seahawks' Jeremy Lane arrested on DUI charge

But King County Court records show the Seahawks cornerback was arrested on a charge of suspicion of DUI early Sunday morning.

Lane was booked into jail at 5:30 a.m. local time and was released on his own recognizance about four hours later, according to King County court records.

More information about Lane's arrest, such as his blood alcohol content, was not immediately available. The Seahawks have not yet issued a statement regarding the arrest.

The legal matter follows a tumultuous season for Lane.

The Illinois native had a slash line of.239/.341/.444 with 95 home runs and 247 RBIs over three-plus seasons with the Mets. The Dodgers left him off their World Series roster after he struggled in the playoffs, going just 1-for-15 at the plate.

The 27-year-old player has been with the Seahawks since 2012. That includes six this past season at right corner. The second came after he assumed left side duties for Richard Sherman after the latter's season-ending Achilles injury.

Jeremy Lane's Twitter handle is StayinginmyLane, which Seahawks fans hope is true. He was briefly traded to Houston this season but returned to Seattle after failing his Texans physical. Best known for his interception of Tom Brady - and subsequent broken arm - in the Super Bowl in 2015, Lane has started 21 games in his career, including six in 2017.

Lane's time in Seattle has appeared to be nearing its end ever since the aforementioned botched trade.

The Seahawks could save $11 million over the next two years against the salary cap, with just $2.5 million in dead money, if he is released.
