Security forces dsimantles IED in Srinagar

Army on Saturday defused 5-kgs Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in HMT area in outskirts of Srinagar while two persons were injured in army firing in the area in a separate incident.

An official said that the IED weighing almost five kilograms was planted by the militants in HMT area of Srinagar. A bomb disposal squad was rushed to the spot, which defused the explosive device, the official said. "And during the operation, an IED was detected on a road", Yadav said.

Traffic movement on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway was disrupted after the explosive was found. Two persons were injured.

Soon, they said, traffic movement on the highway was suspended and the entire area was sealed by the forces. Officials said both were stable, adding that the vehicle did not stop at the checking point when it was asked to stop by Armymen.

SSP Srinagar City Imtiaz Ismail Parray said that a case has been registered and further investigations are going on.
