Mother of boy in H&M's 'coolest monkey' ad says, 'Get over it'

THE mum of a child model at the centre of the H&M racism storm claims she has been racially abused after saying people should "get over it". Do you agree with her? She added, "This is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modeled... stop crying Wolf all the time, unnecessary issue". Everyone is entitled to their opinion about this. H&M quickly pulled the hoodie from their stories worldwide, while several celebrities have blasted the retailer.

The company that made the shirt, H&M, pulled the advertisement down after numerous complaints, including celebrities who slammed the ad, such as National Basketball Association star LeBron James and music producer and artist, P Diddy.

Ms Mango's uncle, Kenyan-born music promoter Clay Onyango, said the family have met with H&M and believed the brand had not meant to be racist, but found the decision to run the hoodie mind-boggling.

For me, I think the whole thing has been over stretched.

The outrage prompted H&M to remove the image from its United Kingdom and U.S. websites and to issue a statement saying it was "deeply sorry". "Maybe it's just one of those mistakes that one makes", Onyango told Gulf News, before adding: "But there are many questions you can ask - how did they miss that?"

A Facebook exchange involving a woman named Terry Mango, a Kenyan national who resides and works in Sweden, was posted to the Instagram account of Instablog9ja - a verified account that accepts user submitted stories and seems to focus on content from Africa (predominantly Nigeria). This is about common sense.

"We sincerely apologize for offending people with this image of a printed hooded top".

As attention on the issue intensified, and the controversy continued to grow, H&M released a further statement via its Instagram page. "Our position is simple and unequivocal - we have got this wrong and we are deeply sorry". This is without any doubt. "We will now be doing everything we possibly can to prevent this from happening again in future".
