Missouri governor acknowledges affair; attorney refutes blackmail claims

The Republican governor has admitted to being "unfaithful" but denies the rest. It is very disappointing that her ex-husband betrayed her confidence by secretly, and without her knowledge, recording a private and deeply personal conversation and then subsequently released the recording to the media without her consent. Evans, who talked with the governor and his wife, Sheena Greitens, this week, said as long as Greitens remains in office, he has a lot of work to do to fix his relationships with fellow elected officials. The former Navy SEAL officer and veterans' charity founder won election in 2016 as a self-described outsider ready to blow up the political establishment in Jefferson City. He fought a St. Louis minimum wage law that would have helped struggling families pay the rent and feed their kids. A pro-Greitens group, A New Missouri, has also run ads targeting specific Republican lawmakers. News of the affair - and some troubling allegations about a photo supposedly snapped by Greitens - first broke Wednesday night, just one hour after the governor's state of the state address.

Missouri governor Eric Greitens called for tax cuts, a ban on lobbyist gifts and changes to the foster care system.

The woman's attorneys say her ex-husband released the audio to news outlets without her permission. Greitens released his statement in response to the story. It was sent to the same account that Greitens listed on a website he used in the campaign. The station aired portions of the recording. Even Republican legislative leaders who worked well with Greitens in the past, such as Sen. He said the blackmail allegations put to rest any hesitancy about proceeding, along with a "lengthy" off-the-record conversation with the woman.

Afterward, the ex-husband went on social media calling Greitens a "homewrecker", according to KMOV. The newspaper did not initially publish his story because the woman declined to respond to interview requests. But Wednesday night, the governor confirmed the extramarital affair. The station reported that the woman's ex-husband alleged Greitens photographed her nude and threatened to publicize the images if she spoke about the affair.

He didn't say if the ex-husband has also heard from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I am not a part of anything. I don't want this. The other source is the ex-husband's lawyer, who is not mentioned in Bennett's statement. Some Greitens voters have come to his defense on his Facebook page. "People are upset with what they've seen across the nation in the movie industry, in the political industry, on tv with the anchors who have lost their jobs", says Romine. "Lead on and God Bless!"

"The worst thing you can do during the life of the crisis is hunker down", he said. Any allegation of violence is completely false.

We have been asked repeatedly by reputable news outlets why we believe this almost three-year-old news story is coming out now. There was no 'blackmail, ' and that claim is false.

"This personal matter has been addressed by the governor and Mrs. Greitens privately years ago when it happened", Bennett said. The outrageous claims of improper conduct regarding these nearly three-year-ago events are a lie'.

The governor convened a conference call Thursday with donors, and Eric and Sheena Greitens later spent the afternoon dialing Senate and then House lawmakers, reiterating their public statements and their resolve to move forward. The statement continued, "While we never would have wished for this pain in our marriage, or the pain that this has caused others, with God's mercy Sheena has forgiven and we have emerged stronger".

Sheena Greitens released a separate statement of her own, saying she and her husband have a "loving marriage and an awesome family".
