FL: Woman kidnapped, killed in murder-for-hire mistake

So she hired Alexis Ramos, 35, and his girlfriend, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, 22, to kill the woman.

The hijackers at that point professedly constrained Zengotita-Torres to give them her ATM card and data so they could pull back cash from her record.

They said Ishnar Lopez-Ramos, 35, wanted to kill a woman who was in a relationship with a man she loved, Fox 35 Orlando reported.

"However the suspects continued with their plan of murder and tied the victim with the zip ties and her head and duct tape and garbage bags", said Sheriff Gibson.

Zengotita-Torres was not that woman. She had been beaten and suffocated.

Following a series of transactions, police nabbed Lopez-Ramos, who led them to the other two suspects in the case. The couple dumped Zengotita-Torres' body in Ormond Beach late Sunday or early Monday and then abandoned her auto, the sheriff said.

"It was just a mistaken identity, I don't say that lightly, that this woman lost her life for no reason".

Investigators say Janice Zengotita-Torrres, 42, was killed after being mistaken for the target in a murder-for-hire plot in Osceola County, Fla.

Zengotita-Torres passed on of suffocation. Gibson said they abandoned the vehicle in Orange County.

Lopez Ramos was tracked down through the stolen bank card and was caught while making a withdrawal with it, all while reportedly wearing the victim's clothes.

"All three confirmed that this was a murder-for-hire and that the victim was mistakenly - again, mistakenly - targeted and murdered as being the person they thought was the intended victim", Gibson said.

Sheriff Gibson says all three of the suspects confessed and that their arrests may not have happened without some close work that was done with the victim's family.

"The heinous murder of our own citizens will not be tolerated in Osceola County", he said, according to the Sentinel. "This mother, this wife, this daughter, for no reason at all", Sheriff Gibson said.

Ramos-Rivera, Montes and Lopez-Ramos have all been accused of first-degree kill.

The woman who was the original target of the plot was told about the scheme, but has turned down an offer of protective services.

They are being held in the Osceola County Jail on murder charges.
