Fire damages ceremonial lounge at Mumbai Airport

A fire broke out at the ceremonial lounge of terminal 1A at Mumbai domestic airport in Santacruz on Saturday afternoon. Concerns rose as President Ram Nath Kovind was to use the gate after landing.

No casualties and injuries have been reported as yet.

On January 4, seven shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at Reay Road in the city; days after a blaze at Kamala Mills compound claimed 14 lives on December 29.

At 2.04 pm, Level II fire call was sent out and by 2.40 pm, an alarm was raised for Level III.

The film has finally received a green signal from the CBFC which awarded it a "U/A" certificate with some modifications. While the makers have accepted the name change, they maintain that the rumour about the film having 300 cuts is untrue.

A terminal at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was partially evacuated Friday morning after a transformer underneath the facility caught fire. The fire has been doused.

"We are investigating the cause of the fire; it is too early to comment on it", Rahangdale said. "No operations were affected".

It was confined to the ground floor area of the lounge in the one-storied structure and destroyed electric wiring and installations, wooden furniture, partitions and the false ceiling, besides decorative material.
