Federal Agency Returns to Accepting Requests Under DACA

"President Trump also backed off his demand that a DACA deal include an absurdly expensive and ineffective border wall across the entire length of the southern border", top Senate Democrat Charles Schumer said yesterday, referring to Trump's remarks Tuesday that a wall need not be a coast-to-coast physical structure.

WASHINGTON — A federal judges decision to block Trump administration plans to phase out protections for so-called undocumented "dreamers" brought sharp backlash Wednesday from the White House, calling the injunction "outrageous".

The Denver Post has reached out to the other members of Colorado's congressional delegation and will update this story as they respond.

The Republican leadership was flabbergasted and furious, as were his own advisers.

Trump said during the meeting that he would "take the heat" if Congress is willing to take the further step of providing a path to legal status for the 11 million or so undocumented immigrants now residing in the U.S.

Bloomberg's Sahil Kapur reports on bipartisan efforts in the Senate to reach a deal on immigration.

In September, Trump's administration said it would end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which granted temporary legal status to those individuals, and gave Congress a six-month time frame to craft a legislative solution.

Trump rescinded the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program past year and booted the issue to Congress as he called for funding for a border wall with Mexico. That's because roughly 22,000 eligible DACA recipients were unable to successfully renew their DACA, some due to Hurricanes Irma and Harvey which affected hard-hit Texas and Florida.

Mikaela Shiffrin dominates slalom for 40th career win
Beaten by 1.64 seconds in a slalom on the Podkoren course, Frida Hansdotter had mixed feelings about the American's dominance. Shiffrin was the runner-up in Saturday's giant slalom and now leads the overall World Cup standings with 305 points.

But large majorities of Americans, including Democrats and Republicans, want Dreamers to stay.

"It will be a full decade before any Dreamer gets citizenship and the right to vote". Heck, they won't be able to support Oprah's re-election in 2024. "It's a pine needle", Cotton told reporters after the meeting. The money would fund a partial construction of a fence along the border, technology and the training and retention of border patrol agents. "It pits dreamers against their parents". "Ending" chain migration was a key stated goal of Republicans in these talks.

It proposes to offer "Dreamers" the possibility of legally residing in the country although it does not provide for granting them citizenship, Efe news agency reported.

And finally, the program would change the diversity visa lottery system as well. "They're s***hole countries. We should have more people from Norway".

Trump has produced a steady stream of mixed messages on DACA, beginning with his campaign promise to "immediately" terminate the program. "We are now working to build support for that deal in Congress".

But some Republicans wanted nothing to do with this bill, including Sen.

The initiative of the Republican lawmakers proposes that the beneficiaries of DACA be able to have a permit that allows them to reside in the USA, without being deported, for three years, with the possibility of renewing this permission indefinitely.
