Drake Stoops announces plans to join Sooners as preferred walk-on

Drake Stoops, Bob's son, announced on Twitter that he is staying "home" and will play for the Sooners. He also turned down Air Force, Arkansas State, Memphis, Ohio, Western Kentucky and Youngstown State to walk-on at OU. Reports indicate he's a quality route-runner with good hands, but may not have the athleticism or size (5'11/175) to be more than a slot receiver.

Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley retweeted Stoops' tweet quickly after he posted the news.

Stoops is the No. 20 player in Oklahoma, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings.

Stoops was ranked a three-star wide receiver recruit at Norman North High School and had offers from Iowa, Memphis and OH, but will play at OU as a preferred walk-on.
