Chandigarh Stalking Case: Haryana BJP chief's son Vikas Barala gets bail

Reacting on Vikas Barala being granted bail by Punjab & Haryana High Court, Varnika Kundu, an IAS officer's daughter on Thursday said that not opposing to the decision as of now.

While accepting his bail plea, Justice Lisa Gill warned Vikas not to try to influence the trial, going on in a Chandigarh court.

Vikas Barala and Ashish Kumar were arrested on August 9, 2017 after Varnika Kundu from Chandigarh narrated the harrowing experience she suffered by the duo on the night of August 4. They were released on bail later as the police had booked them under bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The two men, who were driving an SUV, were allegedly drunk at the time and, according to Varnika, tried several times to force her auto to stop.

However, Facebook is reportedly planning to pitch Portal as a social device for keeping people in touch with friends and family. Portal will feature a wide-lens camera that can detect faces and associate them with their Facebook accounts.

Even as Varnika called up police and complained that the two men were stalking her, she descirbed the incident on Facebook. Vikas and Ashish, who have both studied law, have denied the charges.

He said that the defence told the court that the accused would not influence anybody in the case.

On January 9, Varnika was grilled by Barala's counsel for five hours and asked almost 500 questions about her personal life - from the friends she has and to whether her mother had been told of the incident when it took place, as per news report. Ghai further claimed that no case of attempting to abduct Kundu was made out against his client, alleging that at the time of registration of the FIR, her father and counsel were present at the police station, and there were chances that the entire story was manipulated.
