Watch For Flooding Friday, Freezing Rain Saturday

It's time to bring in the plants and pets again, as South Mississippi can expect colder days and frosty nights to return for the next week, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday then continues with "a 40 percent chance of snow" with a high of 31 degrees. Ice changes to snow. Rivers and streams could see sudden rises in vicinity of these ice jams. In Hancock and Washington counties, the flood watch extends from Friday afternoon though Sunday morning.

TUESDAY: Cloudy with snow/rain/mix developing (more likely late and at night).

Any standing water in the parking lots or on the roads early in the day will have turned to ice. Temperatures will "crash" from the near 60s into the 20s.

Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.

The campaign group Models Of Diversity, which pushes for more diversification across the industry, said H&M should be "ashamed". H&M clothing stores in South Africa have been trashed today in response to the "monkey in the jungle" hoodie controversy.

Waves of heavy rain will continue for the rest of today and through the overnight. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch are possible. Accumulations in this region will be light averaging only a dusting to a half inch in the highest elevations.

Tonight: Rain and sleet before 10 p.m., then freezing rain and sleet between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., then snow after 1 a.m. We'll get a pretty good shot of arctic air from the due north. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 20s and the wind chill will be in the single digits much of the day. Boston will be below freezing by 1 p.m.

"Elevated winds will help to dry out some roadways but wind sheltered locations and normally prone elevated surfaces could experience black ice making for hazardous travel conditions late Friday evening through Saturday morning". Winds 10-15 miles per hour will make it feel like 10-to-15 degrees. North wind 11 to 14 miles per hour.

There is a slight chance for snow or rain on Sunday while the high will be about 38 degrees. North wind 8 to 13 miles per hour. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24.
