V8 turbo boost for Bentley Bentayga

At the heart of the latest Bentayga model is a new-generation 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine which combines enormous power with impressive fuel efficiency.

This all-new engine produces 542-horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, which shoves it to 60 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds and to a top speed of 180 miles per hour.

Where you'll notice more difference is in economy (unless you use the Bentayga performance to the max) with official economy of 24.8mpg, although real-world will probably be mid to high teens.

Coming with adaptive cruise control, predictive cruise control - which uses the sat-nav, Global Positioning System and traffic data to suggest the correct speed - and traffic assist, the Bentayga V8 is built to take on long distances. This refined efficiency comes via the ability of the engine to de-activate four of its eight cylinders in suitable conditions, without compromising the drive.

Despite that, Bentley calls the Bentayga V8 is "the most sporting guise to date" of its luxury SUV.

He says traffic on the ferry is typically slow this time of year, though it's used daily by workers crossing the border. Temperatures are anticipated falling to around 29 degrees by 5 p.m., with wind chill values between 15 and 25.

One of the more unique features on the Bentayga V8 is the optional carbon ceramic brakes which Bentley claims are the largest front brakes ever fitted to any production auto. The discs measure 17.3 inches up front and 14.5 inches in the rear, sitting inside 10-piston calipers, and this braking system can provide 4,425 lb-ft of maximum braking torque to all four wheels.

Looks wise, there isn't much to differentiate the V8 Bentayga from its other two variants. The auto gets an eight-inch infotainment system that features a 60GB hard drive, while rear-seat passengers can make use of the new Bentley Entertainment Tablet if specified, which is a 10.2-inch Android tablet with 4G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The Bentayga is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that produces 542bhp. There are optional premium sound system available as well with 18 speakers for a total of 1950watts. 11 wheel designs are available, including an all-new 22-inch five-spoke design with black painted and polished finish.

Inside, customers can choose a four, five or even seven-seat configuration for ultimate versatility, and driver aids include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and park assist, along with infrared night vision and a head-up display. Inside, the V8 Bentayga's swanky hand-crafted cabin has been updated with a new high-gloss carbon fiber trim replacing traditional veneer surfaces, along with an optional wood and hide trimmed steering wheel.
