'Play our best:' Brady brushes off controversy, focuses on Titans

Former Patriots cornerback, and current Titan Logan Ryan will be returning to Gillette for Saturday's playoff game. With one daunting task comes another though as the Titans now head to Foxboro to take on the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. The Patriots are 20th in the National Football League in rushing yards allowed per game (114.8), and 31st in rushing yards per carry (4.7). But what would be the challenge in that?

We are just a few days out from the Titans biggest test in recent history. So, sure, why not? If they do win, though, it will be because their pass-rush gets to Brady-not because the Patriots were distracted by any lingering discontent. If Henry can't get going, the Titans will have to rely on Mariota's arm, and that could spell doom for their chances.

Granted, those three performances came early in the season, when the Patriots' defense was in disarray. Nothing can better blow up a carefully orchestrated defensive plan like a quarterback who can buy extra time or dodge a pass-rusher and pick up easy yards. "He's been the best for quite some time", Mariota said.

Brady is 11-2 in 13 divisional-round games since 2002, passing for 3,700 yards and 28 touchdowns.

"There's no doubt about it", Vikings defensive coordinator George Edwards says, "you have a first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback that does an excellent job of going out and executing their game from week to week".

The Vegas betting line made the Patriots a 13½-point favorite.

The delay was caused by an incident involving another plane that slid off the runway at Nashville International Airport, although a spokesperson for the airport said weather was not a factor, per the Tennessean.

"Even with big plays or penalties, when they're driving, we get inside that 20 and tighten up", said Rowe. They do a lot of different things, whether it's their fronts, whether it's their schemes and their coverages. We show up to work and try to do the best we can do. "We do need to get him well from an illness standpoint". His size and movement should see him feast on the soft centre of the Titans defense. It was very encouraging to see that effort from Marcus Mariota who has been much maligned for a lot of the season. Tennessee has scored on all but two of its red-zone opportunities in 2017. Mariota also threw a touchdown to Eric Decker from the 22. So which Henry will the Titans get against the Patriots? Offensive lineman Josh Kline spent the 2013 through 2015 seasons with the Patriots. "We've had a good week watching film, getting ready to play a good team".

Will any of that actually matter? Eh. Yet, the Patriots can't seem to stay out of the limelight. He weighs more than both the Patriots starting inside linebackers, Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts, and weighs almost as much as Eric Lee and Trey Flowers, whom the Patriots list as their starting defensive ends.

HEISMAN BROTHERS: Mariota, the 2014 Heisman victor, and Derrick Henry, the 2015 Heisman victor, combined to turn in the best rushing performance in franchise history in the wild-card round.

"He saw some of the things that he missed by trying to bounce some things", Titans coach Mike Mularkey said.

Could this be the last run for this Patriots group? Will those distractions galvanize them or will they throw them off course? The Titans are the young up-and-comers, playing without pressure, knowing they had no business making it here in the first place.

I feel like the Patriots for so long have been so great with the owner, the coaching staff, the quarterback, everybody's gotten along so well I'm going to sit here and say this is media BS. "This is what you've guys have worked for". The prized free agent has not exactly been the player the Titans hoped he would be, but he has been solid for them at times. "This is a great experience". At the half, Tennessee was down 21-3, but mounted a huge comeback on Offense while Defensively keeping Kansas City off the scoreboard for 30 minutes.

How could there be shakiness found in Brady, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, the heavy favourite to be named MVP of this season, the lodestone of a dynasty creeping towards the completion of its second decade? Maybe they're coming together at the right time.
