Barcelona's Turan returns to Turkey on loan

FC Barcelona confirmed on Saturday that they have reached a deal with Turkish side Basaksehir to loan them Turkish worldwide winger Arda Turan for the remainder of this season and for two more.

"Barcelona and Basaksehir agree on a loan deal for the Turkish player for the remainder of the season and two more".

Turan, a 30-year-old Turkish worldwide, made the move to Catalonia in 2015 following a hugely-successful 4-year stint with La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

During his time at Camp Nou, Arda won medals in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana, but failed to hit the same high standards he produced at Atleti.

Turan's new club Basaksehir have risen fast over the last two seasons to rival the established Istanbul triumvirate of Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray and lead the Super Lig by a point.

Barca's club-record purchase of Philippe Coutinho further diminished his chances of regular first-team football and Arda opted for a return to Turkey, having previously won the domestic title in his home country during his time at Galatasaray.

Basaksehir will likely be paying a decent chunk of cash to take him on loan and potentially be paying part of Turan's wages if they are to keep La Blaugrana cushy over the move, however, with claims stating that Barca can still sell him during his loan spell if a suitable offer is made for his services.

"This is not just a transfer for Basaksehir, but a transfer for Turkey".

The fourth-most capped Turkish player will also be hoping to return to his best for the national team after reversing his decision to retire from global football in August.
