The highly anticipated fight between WBA and IBF world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker could be confirmed this week, promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed.

The fighters' respective promotions, Matchroom Boxing and Duco Events, have been locked in negotiations since the end of previous year, with the purse split the largest obstacle that needed to be hurdled.

Promoter Eddie Hearn was continuing talks with David Higgins, his opposite number, last night in London. Who says Anthony Joshua could be with Matchroom in seven months' time?

"We feel otherwise. You're going to see a lot of fireworks this press conference".

"I've already seen that he wants 60-40, Tyson Fury, which is not quite the idea that we have, but we are up for making the Tyson Fury fight".

"It's not signed yet but hopefully with this trip to the United Kingdom we get it signed", he says.

The likeliest scenario is that after fighting Parker in spring, Joshua will aim to fight Wilder in midsummer and then Fury at the end of the year.

Parker will be a significant challenge, even if Joshua will be a strong favourite.

"We need these belts, there is no secret, and they know that as well", he said. To do that he has to beat Parker and Wilder.

Furthermore, Fury hasn't fought in almost two and a half years (by the time he gets in the ring) and at the moment is still in the process of weight shedding and getting back into somewhat near fight shape.

Negotiations for the showdown have been drawn out but are extremely close to a conclusion, with WBO champion Parker understood to have settled for around 33 per cent of the fight purse.

The comments revived charges that the president is racist and roiled immigration talks that were already on tenuous footing. Those who paid attention to the campaign and the first year in office can not be surprised by anything Trump says or does.
