Wenger offers update on Everton vs Southampton battle for Theo Walcott

Wenger offers update on Everton vs Southampton battle for Theo Walcott

When quizzed on Everton wanting to sign Walcott Wenger said: "I can not tell you much more".

While not agitating to leave, the player is frustrated at a lack of games and is open to joining the Toffees or Saints to reignite his career.

Walcott was in the Gunners line-up for Sunday's FA Cup defeat at Nottingham Forest but has not started a Premier League match all season.

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott could well be on his way out of the club after falling behind Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck in the pecking order - who are of course both behind Alexandre Lacazette after the forward signed in the summer.

"We know Walcott is a very good player but now it is not my concern to talk about players not in the club". "If we're able to get that over the line, I'll be delighted".

Everton boss Sam Allardyce recently bolstered his attacking options with the £27m capture of Beskitas star Cenk Tosun. (The deal) is permanent, I don't think there's any chance of a loan.

"I will be very excited and enthused once somebody, if it is not Theo then somebody else, has signed on the dotted line. You will never think a player is coming until somebody tells you he has actually signed on the dotted line".

The Toffees chief is eager to add more goals to his side and is a fan of Walcott.

The decision suggested that Walcott will not get more minutes at Arsenal any time soon and he now looks set to leave.

"It is essential that we trim the squad down if we are to bring more players in to adjust the balance of the squad. We've had a number of enquiries but none of those enquiries have hit where our valuation might be".
