The first known use of the character was on an internet forum in 2009 by a user called Eric Knudsen. Knudson's entry consisted of two black and white photos, each with kids and a tall, thin figure wearing a black suit and a white face which is devoid of facial features in the background. The character gained tons of popularity over the last half decade thanks to Parsec Studios' Slender video games.
