Netflix's New Altered Carbon Trailer Dives Into a Sci-Fi Mystery

The story focuses on the world's wealthiest man, who is murdered; when his mind is transferred, he hires an ex-soldier to investigate who killed him.

Based on the acclaimed novel by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon is set in a distant future where the ability to transfer human consciousness to new bodies renders death meaningless (well, for rich people, at least).

Netflix is the world's leading Internet television network with over 100 million members in over 190 countries enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films. Explore Altered Carbon with the official Season 1 trailer below.

Minor girl's rape, murder sparks protest in Pak
The CCTV footage, which went viral on social media, shows the alleged kidnapper walking by a street, holding the girl's hand. The incident was widely reported by local media, and people across the country took to social media to condemn the crime.

The biggest name in Altered Carbon is James Purefoy, of Rome and The Following fame.

The promo, released Thursday, offers an in-depth look at the dystopian future in which Kinnaman's Takeshi Kovacs is reanimated after a 250-year period on ice. The first trailer for Altered Carbon introduced Bancroft, who is alive, but has no memory of how he died. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder ... that of Bancroft himself. The show looks impressively large, with stunning environments and sets. Blade Runner fans in particular have expressed excitement about the series' upcoming arrival and its potential for bringing the genre a new level of popularity. "You shed it like a snake sheds it's skin". Joel Kinnaman's Kovacs, formerly a Japanese man whose consciousness has been (for now) downloaded to a tall Swede's body - it remains to be seen whether the series will cover his other bodies, using other actors.

Altered Carbon will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, February 2.
