Chris Holtmann is building Ohio State basketball into a victor

The Ohio State Buckeyes picked up the biggest win of the Chris Holtmann era Sunday, upsetting the top-ranked Michigan State Spartans 80-64 at home in Nationwide Arena.

Tate laughed, but said there still was a lot of basketball to be played, and Bates-Diop backpedaled with "I'll just say we're on the right track". Ward still had 10 rebounds, despite his poor offensive showing. We were able to move them side to side. "They mixed it up in every way and made it hard".

"Don't go searching now", Izzo said. We have not been through something like that as a group with a team of that caliber coming into our place. That's not something this team is used to seeing, especially after assisting 30 times on 32 made field goals in a blowout of Maryland earlier in the week. We could go in the tank for the next couple of weeks.

Maxime Boursiquot added 13 points, Vasa Pusica 12 and Tomas Murphy 10 for Northeastern (10-6, 3-1 CAA). "We sat back, and that's not what we're all about". We'll just have to see at the end of the tunnel what it is.

The Buckeyes and Spartans are two of three Big Ten teams to enter the weekend undefeated. The result also provided further evidence that this college basketball season features plenty of good teams but no great ones. "This isn't the first time we've done it, and it won't be the last". However, Chris Holtmann's Butler Bulldogs made the Sweet 16 last season, but this team has more apparent talent.

The Buckeyes erupted for 12 unanswered points in the last 1:14 of the first half to grab a 41-29 halftime lead.

However, he wasn't changing his opinion that the Spartans deserved a call on a Jaren Jackson drive to the hoop.

Florida State cut a 16-point second-half deficit to four with 24 seconds left. Sophomore forward Miles Bridges got his to the tune of 17 points and seven rebounds, but Michigan State shot 39 percent from the field overall, unable to match the home-court advantage of the Buckeyes.

"Maybe I'm wrong on it but I thought, in this day and age, I think that was worthy of assault and battery".

"This is the way it's like in the Big Ten", Izzo said. "I saw it the way I saw it and I said what I said and I deserved the technical, but I want my mother to know I didn't swear at him". The Spartans misfired consistently from behind the arc, while the Buckeyes enjoyed more success scoring at the rim against Michigan State than any other team has this season.

"I am very impressed with his body of work while at Washington State, as many others were, and am happy he chose to come home to OH to become a part of our Buckeye coaching staff", Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said in a statement.

The previous best this season was Notre Dame, which shot 44.4 percent.
