Arrest warrant against Vipassana Insan- Gurmeet Ram Rahim's likely successor

Mahender was nabbed from the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.

A court in Haryana's Panchkula on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Dera Sacha Sauda Chairperson Vipassana Insan in connection with the violence that followed the conviction of the religious sect's leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in two rape cases in August 2017, The Tribune reported.

According to the media reports, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted raids recently at Vipassana's residence but the Dera chairperson could not be traced.

Dr Mahinder Pal Singh alias Mahender Insan in Sirsa, a surgeon who has been associated with sect from 1995, is said to have involved in the castration of 300 people ordered by Ram Rahim.

The letter cites two primary reasons to justify the demand of closing the madrasas. He also challenged Rizvi to show one madrasa where such teachings are imparted.

Isolated incidents of violence were also reported from Delhi and several places in Punjab.The Haryana Police had sounded an global alert against all three.

Police say Mahender's arrest could be crucial in getting information about another absconding close aide of the jailed self-styled convict, Aditya Insan, who has a Rs 2-lakh reward on his head. Assistant commissioner of Panchkula police heading the SIT had asked Jassi to appear before it earlier, but the former Congress legislator had requested for more time.

The Dera chief, now lodged in Sunaria jail in Rohtak, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping two disciples.
