Sure, film fans are already keeping one ear to the ground in anticipation of Venom, Aquaman, Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but when it comes to Black Panther, there's really something special about Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's beloved creation. Per Pitchfork, Lamar and Top Dog Entertainment CEO Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith will producing and curating Black Panther: The Album, a soundtrack collection for Ryan Coogler's forthcoming (and amazing-looking) Marvel epic.

"I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational", writes Coogler, "and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film".

"Marvel Studios' Black Panther is awesome, from its cast to its director", Kendrick noted.

Comic book, movie, and lovers of culture have been anticipating the premier of Black Panther since the movie was first announced in In October 2014, with every reveal making the wait more agonizing. The superstar rapper was drawn to the project by the movie's "marriage of art and culture". Under an administration that is clearly at odds with the minorities of this country, Black Panther is a statement in the movie title in itself that serves as a beacon of light.

Creed star Michael B Jordan and actress Lupita Nyong'o are also listed in the star studded cast alongside movie legends Angela Bassett, Forest Whittaker and British actor Martin Freeman. Now, with TDE, in control of the soundtrack, it's blacker than ever. To hold us over, Kendrick has released the first single from the record, a collaboration with SZA titled "All the Stars".
